Award Background

This award was created in 2005 to honor Lou Novak. Lou was a member of Midland Toastmasters for over 40 years. He served District 6 as an Area Governor, Division Governor, and District Governor 1981/1982. He also served on the Toastmasters board of directors as Region IV International Director 1985/1987. Lou was a key member of the District 6 25-year club. Lou was particularly gifted in club building. During his years in Toastmasters, Lou was instrumental in chartering over 100 clubs. Lou's Toastmaster friends established this award in his memory.

Purpose
Each year the Lou Novak award is presented at the District Spring Convention to a Toastmasters member who significantly contributes to the growth of new clubs in District 6.

Qualifications
The nominated member must have been:

  • A Toastmaster in good standing for a minimum of two consecutive years.
  • Instrumental in helping one or more new clubs charter since July 1 (current Toastmasters year).
    The nominated member may have served:
  • As a Club Mentor
  • As a Club sponsor
  • As a Club coach,
  • As an ongoing member of the demo team
  • In a capacity that aided the district in establishing one or more new clubs.

    All Toastmasters may be considered for this award except the current year District Governor, Lt. Governor of Education and Training, and Lt. Governor of Marketing.

    Nominations (including a summary of the club(s) the member assisted in chartering and the role they took in the process of chartering each club) must be submitted to the District Governor by March 31st.
